Technical zoom: Covering involves applying a custom-printed adhesive vinyl film to the vehicle. This film is printed in four-color process (large-format digital printing) on white (opaque) or transparent vinyl, using resistant inks ( solvent or latex inks). A final plastification (transparent lamination, gloss or matte finish) protects the print from UV, scratches and weathering. The material used is generally a polymeric or cast vinyl (top-of-the-range) around 50 to 70 microns thick, offering a lifespan of up to 5 to 10 years. ( Monomeric vinyls, more economical, are reserved for flat surfaces and short-term wrapping). This film is sufficiently thin and thermoformable to adapt to complex body shapes.

Before installation, the vehicle is cleaned and degreased. The vinyl is positioned, then heated with a heat stripper in curved areas (e.g. bumpers, mirrors) to ensure perfect, crease-free conformance. The installer uses felt squeegees to roll the film and remove any air bubbles. Modern films often incorporate “bubble-free” micro-channels to facilitate bubble-free application. The adhesive is initially repositionable, allowing stress-free adjustment of the visual. Once applied, the acrylic adhesive ensures a firm, long-lasting bond (the vinyl won’t peel off by itself). A precision cutter is used to cut cleanly around edges and openings (door handles, wheel arches, etc.).

In operation, a quality covering resists washing (even with a moderate high-pressure jet) and external conditions(weathering, temperature variations). When the time comes, the film peels off cleanly using heat, without leaving residues or altering the vehicle’s original paintwork. As a result, your vehicle’s original bodywork remains intact, preserving its resale value.
